Keziah Kitsche
Keziah, born in 1992, is a Cebuana artist, illustrator, and designer based in Manila, Philippines. She completed her Multimedia Arts degree at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in 2014 and has worked as a Graphic Designer in various industries, including publishing and fashion retail. She currently holds a full-time position as a Creative Manager for an EdTech company.
In 2019, Keziah began working on her personal artworks more. She later created Keziah Kitsche, a creative endeavor that has since become an ever evolving project on creativity & self-exploration. In early 2024, she was invited to be a part of the Pictoplasma Academy in Berlin, a masterclass on character design where she was mentored by Nathan Jurevicius, Rilla Alexander, Mila Useche, and Philip Hunt. From joining art markets to eventually having her own solo show at The Grey Space Gallery in San Juan City, Keziah continuously aims to evoke a sense of wonder to her audience through her cheeky characters.
Why Keziah Kitsche?
"Kitsche" is an alter ego created by Keziah. The term "kitsch" comes from her brother's pronunciation of her name as a child. The combination of the names, Keziah and Kitsche, symbolizes a reconciliation of two conflicting facets of her identity.
Keziah represents her outward, everyday self, while Kitsche embodies her inner world of sentimentality and vulnerability. Creating projects and artworks under this persona allows her work to convey deep meaning while simultaneously exhibiting light-hearted fun to the world.
